Dr. Weisman is trained in a number of different therapeutic approaches and will work with you to determine the best course of treatment for your specific needs and personal goals. Below you will find a brief description of the primary modalities in which Dr. Weisman is trained.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a treatment focused on noticing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors within a person’s environment. CBT focuses on noticing and adjusting the relationship between thoughts and behaviors, which in turn influences and informs feelings and perceptions. CBT can be highly specified to fit your concerns and help you achieve your goals, which Dr. Weisman will collaboratively assess and formulate with you. CBT is often ideal for those who would like a targeted, practical, and time-limited treatment and have a specific goal or objective in mind.

DBT Informed Treatment

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), originally developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D. is the standard of care for individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Dr. Weisman provides DBT-informed treatment for those individuals struggling with BPD. The focus and goal of the treatment is to transform destructive or negative behaviors into more positive outcomes. Individuals in this treatment will grow into an ability to understand their thinking and behavioral patterns, as well as the skills to self-regulate, tolerate distress, and engage with interpersonal relationships in a constructive and healthy way.

Individual Psychodynamic Therapy

Also known as ‘insight-oriented therapy,’ this approach examines the unconscious processes that manifest in an individual’s behaviors. The goal of psychodynamic treatment is to come to an understanding and acceptance of how the past influences and impacts the present. Dr. Weisman’s extensive training and background allows her to bring a wide variety of clinical and analytical skills to bear on the treatment of depression and anxiety, as well as assisting with an increased level of self-awareness and higher functioning in all areas of life.
